About us

Our own way of doing things.

We are Tequendama: a restaurant in Las Rozas, a spot in Goya, events and catering, and a team that takes care of every detail so Colombia can be enjoyed properly in Madrid.

Our story

From Bogotá to Las Rozas

I'm Omar Andrés Peña. I was born in Bogotá and I've lived in Spain for almost 27 years. Almost ten years ago I started working in hospitality, and a couple of years ago we decided to commit to Tequendama: an original, different way to experience Colombian food.

I say “we” because this story isn't only mine. My mother was the one who pushed me to take this path, and Tequendama is inspired, in part, by her.

The name comes from my childhood. The Hotel Tequendama stands in Bogotá's Centro Internacional: my mother used to take me there for haircuts and to eat, and it's where I first saw the 1993 Colombia national team. Those are very happy memories. Tequendama is also a name that suggests elegance and quality, which is exactly what we want to be.

We're in Las Rozas because of our story: it's where we arrived, and starting a business here was always a dream. Our home is still on Calle Escorial, in the center of Las Rozas.

In May 2026 we opened Tequendama Moments in Goya. Our identity also needed a place in the heart of Madrid, with a format that embraces Madrid's own culture through our food: coffee and bowls by day, Colombian tapas and drinks by night.

How we work

Every detail counts

The detail at the table

Every dish comes out at the right moment. Kitchen and dining room work at the same pace so all you have to do is enjoy.

The detail you don't see

Clear allergen information, traceable products and an orderly kitchen. Behind it all is our own technology, working quietly.

The Colombian detail

Real flavors and recipes, told with pride. No postcards, no clichés.

Our own technology

We cook the way we always have, but we measure like few others do. We've built our own management platform to coordinate kitchen, dining room, production and events. Guests don't see it, but they notice it: in everything arriving on time and in every detail being looked after.

Who's behind it

The founder of Tequendama

Omar Andrés Peña, from Bogotá, has lived in Spain for almost 27 years and worked in hospitality for almost ten. In the photo, at our Macondo Park stand. Behind every dish is a kitchen and front-of-house team that we'll be introducing here.
